June was a good month for the Port of Green Bay.
A total of 137,725 tons of material passed through the port in June, which is nearly 14,000 tons more than in June of last year.
Limestone was the biggest contributor, with 68,241 tons coming through, followed by over 46,703 tons of cement, and 22,781 pounds of petroleum products.
The Port of Green Bay is still 47% behind the tonnage at this point last year, with Port Director Dean Haen blaming “surges in these materials at the end of last season” disrupting the supply chain patterns.
That being said, Haen is optimistic about the future, saying, “The increased ship traffic over the last month is a positive indicator of stakeholder engagement and impact amidst commodity groups, working to support our economy here in Northeast Wisconsin. The Port is an economic driver throughout the region, from employment opportunities to giving businesses efficient access to raw materials and a reliable link in the supply chain.”
