A simple noise complaint turned into a violent situation for Manitowoc police.
Two officers were dispatched to a residence in the 1200 block of South 15th Street just after midnight this morning (July 14th) after an anonymous complaint about loud music.
The first officer on the scene noted six people sitting in a garage, one of whom appeared to be a man known to have a warrant for his arrest.
When asked his name, the 31-year-old man gave a false name, but when the second officer arrived, they confirmed it was the man included in the warrant list slideshow at the start of shift meeting.
The officers went back to arrest the man, but he ran inside the home.
He attempted to slam a door in the officers’ faces but was taken to the ground by one of the officers as he continued to resist arrest.
A woman then charged at the officers, but she was quickly subdued.
Both subjects continued to resist the officers, resulting in six additional officers being called to the scene.
The male was found to have six open cases on charges including Battery, Disorderly Conduct, Operating while Revoked, and Criminal Damage to Property, and was ordered to have no contact with the 24-year-old woman.
Both were detained on charges of Obstruction and Resisting, with the woman also charged with one count of Misdemeanor Bail Jumping.
The man was also charged with Battery to Law Enforcement and six counts of Misdemeanor Bail Jumping.
