A Northeast Wisconsin congressman is introducing a bill that would create a hotline for dealing with excessive βred tape.β
8th District Congressman Tony Wied says the Destroying Unnecessary, Misaligned, and Prohibitive (DUMP) Red Tape Act would create a direct line for small business owners to report overly burdensome or unnecessary federal regulations to the Small Business Administration Office of Advocacy.
Wied said of the bill, βSmall businesses are the backbone of our economy, but they often lack the time and resources to navigate complex regulatory frameworks. As a former small business owner, I know firsthand how burdensome regulations can make it harder for businesses to operate and turn a profit.β
According to the 8th District Republican, a 2024 report by the House Committee on Oversight found the Biden Administration added $1.7 trillion in new regulatory costs during his time in office.
Wied says the Trump Administration and House Republicans are committed to working to remove red tape and ease the burden on small businesses and consumers.
