Two Eastern Wisconsin legislators are looking to name a state butterfly.
Representative Paul Tittl of Manitowoc and Appleton Senator Rachael Cabral-Guevara have introduced a bill that would make the Monarch Butterfly the state butterfly.
Rep. Tittl called Monarchs “wonderful pollinators, and their conservation directly benefits a variety of other plants, animals, and pollinators.”
He also noted that “Because children love Monarchs, their presence also helps kids to enjoy the outdoors.”
The legislators will be at the Butterfly Garden of Wisconsin in Appleton on Monday to hold a news conference on the bill.
The event will begin at 11:00 a.m., and the public is invited to attend.
