Women’s professional bowling has made its way back to the Green Bay area.
The Professional Women’s Bowling Association (PWBA) Anniversary Open is now underway with bowlers from across the globe converging on the Ashwaubenon Bowling Alley to compete.
Qualifying rounds began on Wednesday (July 9th) and will continue at 11:00 a.m. today (July 11th) when the field will be narrowed down to five bowlers who will advance to the tournament’s finals.
The finalists will then move on to the stepladder finals, which will be held inside the Resch Center and aired live on the CBS Sports Network, beginning at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday (July 13th).
While featuring an international array of women’s bowlers, Sheboygan’s very own Kelly Whipple made it through the second round of qualifying.
This has proven to be an impressive showing for Whipple, who came into the tournament with just the 90th-best average score amongst the female pros, but now finds herself among the top 32 competitors in the Anniversary Open.
Whipple, a PWBA rookie, currently sits in 9th place in the Rookie of the Year points standings.
