A Northeastern Wisconsin fire Department has secured funding to expand and modernize its training facility.
Neenah-Menasha Fire Rescue has announced that they have been awarded $200,00 in state funding to support the training grounds improvement project at Station 31.
This project will include the construction of a new National Fire Protection Association-compliant tower, conversion of the existing tower into a dedicated fire investigation prop, and expanded fireground infrastructure.
The department believes that these upgrades further the commitment of Winnebago County, along with the Cities of Neenah and Menasha, to continue its modernization of the training facility.
They have also offered thanks to Wisconsin’s 55th Assembly District Representative Dean Kaufert who proved instrumental in securing the funding with Fire Chief Travis Teesch saying, “This project is an outstanding example of what can happen when different levels of government – local, county, and state – come together to prioritize public safety.”
Neenah-Menasha’s training grounds not only support their firefighters but also fire crews from across the Fox Valley.
Construction is expected to begin later this year, and Neenah-Menasha plans to hold a dedication event to celebrate the project in the future.
