A local county representative has joined a group backing a 2026 gubernatorial candidate.
Republican Josh Schoemann announced that he has formed a Grassroots Leadership Council to support his campaign. Manitowoc County Board Chairman Tyler Martell is a member of the council.
Martell said on his Facebook page that he’s proud to be a part of Schoemann’s leadership council, and that he understands the needs of local government and local communities.
Some other members of the council include Calumet County GOP Chair Barb Bittner, Outagamie County GOP Chair Pam Van Handel, Fond du Lac County GOP Vice Chair Luke Dretske, and two representatives from Ozaukee County.
Council leaders also include district attorneys and grassroots activists.
Schoemann said in a statement, “The support of these hardworking and dedicated grassroots conservatives is reflective of the kind of campaign I am running. Boots on the ground, tireless, with a commitment to hearing, working with, and creating a shared vision with our neighbors all across Wisconsin.”
He will be running against Businessman Bill Berrien, who recently announced his campaign for governor.
