A comeback attempt fell short last night as the Manitowoc American Legion 16u baseball team fell to West De Pere.
Post 88’s youngest team was on the road for the matchup, where they lost 8-4.
West De Pere jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning, and while Post 88 clawed back to within 1 run, a 4-run explosion in the 5th gave the home squad a lead the Manitowoc team could not overcome.
They added a pair in the 7th, but would get no closer.
Josh Valleskey suffered the loss on the mound, allowing 3 runs in his four innings of work while striking out a pair, in a game where both defenses struggled.
A total of 7 errors were committed, 4 by West De Pere and 3 by Manitowoc.
The Post 88 16u squad is now 10-6 on the season, and will be back at it today with a home game against Seymour.
