A fire at a Madison duplex Wednesday night left 13 people without a home and resulted in the deaths of eight kittens.
The Madison Fire Department says the blaze affected both units of the building.
One firefighter was injured while trying to save the animals but is expected to recover.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
