A Deputy with the Calumet County Sheriff’s Office is recovering from injuries following an incident earlier this week.
The Sheriff’s Deputy was conducting a traffic stop on Wednesday (July 9th) at approximately 4:30 a.m. on State Highway 57 in the Town of Brillion.
During the stop, his patrol vehicle was rear ended by car traveling on 57 that subsequently rolled onto its roof.
As a result of the accident, the deputy was injured; however, those injuries have been deemed to be minor and will only require a brief recovery period before he can return to duty.
The driver of the other vehicle involved showed signs of impairment and was later taken into custody on a charge of Operating a Motor Vehicle while Intoxicated Causing Injury.
The Sheriff’s Office is letting this incident serve as a reminder to motorists that driving while impaired not only endangers themselves but others as well.
They also asked for drivers to move over for emergency vehicles to not only be respectful of law enforcement but to also ensure the safety of officers, other emergency vehicles, and other drivers on the road.
