
Authorities in Oshkosh have released the identity of the individual who lost their life in a fatal stabbing this weekend.
The Oshkosh Police Department has announced that 27-year-old Walter Brooks of Oshkosh was killed on Saturday (July 5th) during an altercation that took place at Menominee Park.
Oshkosh PD was called on Saturday night on a report of a car accident in the 900 block of East Irving Avenue.
Arriving officers found Brooks deceased behind the wheel of the vehicle with multiple stab wounds.
Further investigations revealed that a physical disturbance had broken out between several individuals who were gathered at the park.
That disturbance escalated and resulted in the 27-year-old being stabbed to death.
After the incident, a 19-year-old male from Fond du Lac was taken into custody with the recommendation of a charge of First-Degree Intentional homicide.
The 19-year-old suspect is being held in the Winnebago County jail and awaits his first appearance in court.
