There will be a special antique at this year’s New Holstein Firefighters’ Picnic Parade.
The fire department announced that they’ve acquired an original New Holstein fire apparatus through a donation from a person who lives in Richland Center.
The antique piece is a custom-built 1926 Luverne-Nott Type 45 Fire Engine equipped with a Continental 38 engine and pump, capable of pumping at a rate of 450 gallons per minute.
Due to the age of the fire apparatus, many details of New Holstein’s history remain unknown.
New Holstein Public Information Officer Eugene Thede says the fire department is seeking input from the public, historical societies, and museums for potential information on the vehicle, as well as any other historical information or artifacts.
The fire apparatus will be on display at the firefighters’ picnic on Sunday (July 13th) following the parade at Civic Park.
The New Holstein Fire Department also extended its gratitude to Firefighter Mike Danes for picking up and delivering the fire apparatus from Richland Center to New Holstein.
