Manitowoc’s American Legion baseball teams won two out of three games played yesterday (July 9th).
Manitowoc’s 16u team took down Shawano 6-5 and the 17u squad beat Green Bay Southwest 9-5 while the 19u team fell to Southwest 8-7.
The 19u squad jumped out to an early lead, plating two runs in the game’s opening inning, but Southwest would answer back with three of their own.
Despite the loss, it was a great bounce-back at the plate for Manitowoc, which out-hit its opponents 12-10 after being no-hit in its last outing.
Manitowoc entered the 7th and final inning with a 7-4 lead, but four runs in the bottom half would secure the win for the Green Bay area squad.
Aaron Stephany and Gabe Eichmann had a day at the plate, each collecting three hits apiece, with Sawyer Van Drisse adding two of his own.
The 17u squad handled business against Southwest thanks to a great team effort on the mound and a 2-3 day in the batter’s box from Drew Staudt.
Manitowoc’s 16u team would be powered to victory over Shawano by Isaiah Hochmuth on the mound, who went five innings, allowing one run with seven strikeouts.
The 16u team will be back in action today (July 10th) against West De Pere.
Manitowoc’s 17u team will next play tomorrow (July 11th) in the Marinette Firecracker Tournament, and the 19u team returns to action on Saturday (July 12th) with a doubleheader against Neenah.
