The Wisconsin Supreme Court has paved the way for the state to move forward with banning conversion therapy.
The controversial practice, aimed at changing LGBTQ individuals’ sexual orientation or gender identity, is already prohibited in over 20 states.
In a narrow 4-3 decision on Tuesday, the court ruled that a Republican-led legislative committee’s attempt to block the ban was unconstitutional.
The decision also strengthens the governor’s authority in implementing state laws.
