The Manitowoc Public School District is looking at a rebrand to put all schools under the Ships name.
According to the Superintendent’s report, as part of the effort, all district mascots will gradually transition to the Ships, uniting the schools and community under a shared identity that celebrates Manitowoc’s rich maritime heritage.
Superintendent Lee Thennes says a public relations team created for the district told him that they seem a little fragmented with mascots throughout elementary schools.
He told the board last night (July 8th) that strong successful districts do is come together as one mascot, which will be the Ships.
It’s a multi-year process, meaning the district won’t be coming in and removing logos from schools.
The district will continue to update the public as the process moves forward.
