Manitowoc Fire and Rescue saved some ducklings at the Lighthouse Pier on Maritime Drive.
The department was called to the pier on Monday (July 7th) at 10:15 a.m. for a report of the ducklings being trapped under a metal plate.
A citizen called and reported that they were alerted by a frantic momma duck who approached them looking for help.
Firefighters met with TJ, a Manitowoc Parks employee, who showed them where the animals could be stuck.
After getting the right tools, eight ducklings were rescued from four different areas along the Lighthouse Pier.
They were reunited with their mom, and after a bit of scolding, were able to paddle away.
No injuries were reported.
