The City of Kiel is considering creating special assessments for residents to help fund sidewalk replacement.
According to city documents, the project would include evaluations for over 100 homes based on the cost to replace a sidewalk.
However, the total amount assessed against the properties won’t exceed the total cost to replace the sidewalks.
After Kiel’s utility manager takes steps to create plans and get estimates, the city will hold a hearing in the council chambers on Sixth Street at a future date.
The city will vote to either levy the special assessments before the work is carried out or after the work has been completed.
