A 2021 probe has uncovered links between a former police chief and an illegal ammunition import operation.
Records show James Bushey misled both town officials and federal authorities by falsely stating that imported ammo was for local police use.
He collaborated with Darin Dowd, who needed police department affiliation to legally import millions of rounds.
Although implicated, Bushey has not been formally charged.
