One of the two men accused of stealing from the Manitowoc Piggly Wiggly store is free on bond.
19-year-old Cruz Ruiz Cervantes was given a $300 recognizance bond by Court Commissioner Patricia Koppa on a charge of Resisting an Officer.
The Manitowoc Police Department was informed of a man and a woman outside of the store who had stolen a bottle of alcohol at 6:15 last Friday morning.
When the officer arrived, Cervantes fled the scene and was later located at the Lincoln Park tennis courts.
He was drinking from the bottle and was arrested without further incident.
The woman claimed to have no knowledge of the theft; however, video surveillance showed her helping the man take the bottle.
As a part of his bond, Cervantes was ordered to have no contact with the Manitowoc Piggly Wiggly.
His initial appearance was set for July 31st.
The other man accused of stealing from the store refused to appear for his bail hearing on Monday.
