Trail improvements at Sheboygan’s Evergreen Park may finally be coming.
Sheboygan’s Common Council will meet today (July 7th) at 6:00 p.m., with one of the most important items on the agenda being a vote to approve the revised concept plan for Evergreen Park submitted by Sheboygan County Cycling.
This revised plan was recently approved by the City’s Public Works Committee, which now presents it to the Council with a recommendation of full approval.
SCC created the new and improved plan after holding multiple info sessions to better understand what portions of the public enjoyed and disapproved of the most.
Major exclusions from the new proposal included the 18,000 square foot pump track and an advanced skills zone on the park’s south edge, two items that many, including the Save Evergreen Park group, stood in strong opposition to.
While the new plan may not be exactly what Save Evergreen Park wanted, those within the group have said that they were pleased to see SCC compromise on some items that received heavy pushback.
If approved today, the City will be able to explore funding opportunities for the project through grants and donations.
