Lawrence C. Miller, age 87, a resident of Manitowoc, entered eternal life with family by his side on Thursday, July 3, 2025 at Manitowoc Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Larry was born on September 19, 1937 in Cooperstown to the late Clarence and Vivian (Pelischek) Miller. He graduated from Kewaunee High School with the class of 1955. On September 28, 1957, Larry married Virginia Krupka at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Tisch Mills. He had worked as a plumber for many years with Jindra Plumbing and Heating. Larry played fast pitch softball for many years. He enjoyed spending time hunting (some of which were trips out west) and golfing with his family and friends. Larry enjoyed the occasional beer while playing sheepshead and poker. He always found a way to attend his grandchildren and great grandchildren’s sporting events.
Survivors include Larry’s wife of 67 years, Virginia; two children, Gary (Marlene) Miller, Tisch Mills; and Cheryl (Randy) Valenta, Mishicot; son-in-law, Terry Thorne, Two Rivers; 10 grandchildren, Kelley (Melanie) Thorne, Jackie (Alex) Bruder, Kendall (Sarah) Thorne, Jennifer “Jenna Rose” (Jason) Sisel, Matthew Miller, Daniel Miller, Angela (Jeff) Chalupny, Stephanie (Russ) Wilson, Jacob (Lauren) Valenta, and Danielle (Adam) Bruder; 20 greatgrandchildren; also many other relatives and friends. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Vivian Miller; sister, Lois Miller; and daughter, Lynette Thorne.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 10, 2025 at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo, 1121 North 14th Street, Manitowoc. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Doug LeCaptain with burial to take place at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Tisch Mills. Following the Mass, a luncheon for family and friends will be held at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center located on the south property of the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home.
