
A firework accident may be to blame for a house fire over the weekend in Sheboygan County.
WBAY reports that the Sheboygan County Emergency Communications Center received a call reporting a fire on Saturday (July 5th) just after 11:30 a.m.
The caller stated that a firework had potentially been set off in the basement of a residence located on South Pine Beach Road in the Town of Holland.
The Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Office and other emergency personnel responded to find black smoke coming from the home’s basement with flames also visible.
Crews were able to subdue the fire; however, no estimate on property damage is available at this time.
One individual who was home at the time of the fire was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Currently, no other details are available, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
