
Governor Tony Evers and the Department of Tourism’s Office of Outdoor Recreation have announced seven award winners for their work outdoors.
The Wisconsin DNR says the Wisconsin Governor’s Outdoor Industry Awards were created to honor the outstanding accomplishments that drive economic impact and elevate the profile of Wisconsin’s thriving outdoor industry and the state as a top outdoor recreation destination.
There were 75 nominations for individuals, destinations, and organizations.
The Outdoor Business of the Year went to Adventure Outfitters LLC in Waupaca, while the Trailblazer of the Year went to Volunteer Bill Menke.
The Tandem Award for Collaboration went to the DNR’s Foundation of Wisconsin’s Field Trip Program.
At the same time, Outdoor Recreation Organizer Bill Bertram won the Big Tent Award.
The First Ascent Award for Innovation was awarded to the Glide by the Boulder Junction Parks and Recreation Board.
At the same time, the Rising Star Award went to Visit Eau Claire Outdoor Development Manager Kenndy Domerchie.
The Wisconsin State Parks System was also given the Destination of the Year Award.
