
Two close games for the Manitowoc American Legion baseball 19U and 17U teams did not go their way yesterday (July 3rd).
The 19U team falls to Oshkosh 4-2 while the 17U squad loses 3-1 against the Fond du Lac Post 75 Lakers.
For the 19U team, Zach Bradl, Aaron Stephany, Brett Danielson, Sawyer Van Driess, and Brayden Steinbecker each picked up a hit in the loss for Manitowoc.
Kameron Braun and Steinbecker also drove in the two runs the team earned.
Seth Gibeault took the loss for the 19U teams, going six innings, but giving up four runs, three of them earned on eight hits while striking out six and walking two.
The 17U team was led by Kelvin Gilbertson, who got two hits in two at-bats.
Jake Hillmer took the loss for the Manitowoc American Legion team. He went five innings, gave up three runs, one earned, and six hits.
He struck out six and walked two.
The 17U team falls to 12-3 overall and will be back in action on Sunday when they face De Pere Legion 16U.
The 19U team will return to the diamond next Monday (July 7th) when they welcome Little Chute Varsity Mustangs Post 258 to Bruce Steinbecker Field for their next game.
