An arrest has been made in a vehicle theft case in Manitowoc.
Police were dispatched to a residence in the city at 2:00 Monday afternoon on a report of a stolen vehicle.
The victim reported that he had a group of males in his home recording studio the previous night, and one of them had made a joke about taking his vehicle.
He then noticed his car was gone the following morning.
About four hours later, the vehicle was pulled over in the area of South 14th and Columbus Streets.
Four people were detained for questioning, with three of them claiming they didn’t know the vehicle was stolen.
They all told a similar story, saying the driver had picked them up in the vehicle before traveling to Milwaukee.
One of them also noted that the driver claimed he had gotten the vehicle from his uncle.
The 17-year-old driver initially claimed a man allowed him to borrow the vehicle, and that the transfer occurred in Lincoln Park.
However, surveillance footage did not capture any such transfer.
The teen was then arrested on a charge of Operating a Vehicle Without the Owner’s Consent.
