It was a good outing for Manitowoc’s 17u and 19u American Legion baseball teams, taking on Sheboygan yesterday (June 2nd).
Manitowoc’s 17u squad dominated Sheboygan with a convincing 13-3 victory.
Manitowoc’s Kelvin Gilbertson led the offense, driving in five runs on three hits in this wire-to-wire win. Brady Kienbaum got the win on the bump, going three innings, allowing six hits with three punchouts.
Manitowoc’s 19u squad played a much closer ball game but would also come out victorious 6-4 at Sheboygan’s Field of Dreams.
It also marked another comeback victory for Manitowoc, which scored 4 runs in the top of the 6th inning to take the lead after being down 4-2.
Brayden Steinbecker and Seth Gibeault shined at the plate as each collected two hits in the tightly contested game, and Alex Gill would add two important RBIs.
Pitcher Cade Voelker got the win after going 6 and a third innings, fanning 11 batters.
The 19u squad will take to the diamond this evening to take on Oshkosh Legion on the road, while the 17u squad will be in Fond du Lac.
