It will be another big day of celebrating America’s independence on the lakeshore.
Manitowoc’s Fourth on the Shore and Two Rivers 4th of July Celebration will get underway tomorrow with numerous activities for families to enjoy.
Visit Manitowoc Executive Director Courtney Hansen tells Seehafernews.com that the Fourth on the Shore Parade starts at 10:00 a.m. with the route heading north on S. 8th Street and Washington Street, turning east on Maritime Drive and finishing at the Manitowoc Yacht Club.
The day continues with music at the Wharf, craft vendors, and food trucks in the YMCA parking lot.
“We’re extending the live music in the YMCA lot where vendors are all day from after the parade until 4:00 p.m.,” she explained. “And the Manitowoc Marine Band will be performing pretty much all afternoon.”
Hansen said that it’s great that the 4th of July falls on a Friday because there’s then more time to celebrate into the weekend.
“SubFest is continuing the rest of the weekend,” she noted. “The lighthouse tours, self-guided tours, at the Manitowoc Breakwater Lighthouse are happening on both Friday and Saturday. And then the Salmon Derby is also continuing on throughout the rest of the weekend.”
In Two Rivers, Tourism Director Joe Metzen explains that their celebration begins at Walsh Field at 5:00 p.m. with family activities, games, and concessions, followed by a flag-raising ceremony at 7:20 p.m.
“At 7:25 p.m., Two Rivers community band will be playing at 8:30 p.m.,” Metzen described. “And then at 8:50 p.m., the Clipper City Chordsmen will be performing, and that’s always a local favorite.”
Metzen says it’s the charm of the Cool City that makes the 4th of July celebration fun, whether it’s watching the fireworks at Walsh Field or playing around Neshotah Park.
“Using the shelters, the horseshoe pits, the new equipment that the kids can play on,” he stated. “And of course, there’s the downtown corridor, and some great businesses that will be open and welcoming you.”
Manitowoc’s fireworks will be fired from the south pier and can be seen along the lakefront.
Both fireworks shows will begin at 9:30 p.m.
