Shoreline Metro is reintroducing services to the Sheboygan area that have been discontinued since the COVID-19 pandemic.
Sheboygan’s public transit company has announced that it will be bringing back a Saturday bus line to Sheboygan Falls and Kohler, effective July 12th.
The Saturday service has been suspended since 2020, and a lack of demand for the line had prevented its return until this point.
Since the cancellation, Shoreline Metro has been providing transport to these areas on an “on-demand” basis, which will now end after the Saturday line is reimplemented.
In recent weeks, the demand for transit to both Sheboygan Falls and Kohler has increased significantly due to new and seasonal Kohler Hospitality workers.
The bus will operate from 8:15 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. each Saturday following the July 12th start date.
Regarding the reintroduction of Saturday trips, Transit Director Derek Muench said, “Transit is so vital to our communities, our industries, our citizens, who rely on an accessible and affordable option to get to and from work, school, appointments, and shopping. It’s not every day we can celebrate adding back service. Today is one of those days.”
