Fire crews were on hand after a lightning strike in Howards Grove this weekend.
The Howards Grove and Haven Fire Departments were called to the Petro Center gas station located in the 200 block of North Wisconsin Drive at approximately 8:30 p.m. on Sunday (June 29th).
The initial call reported that a lightning bolt struck the gas station, possibly starting a fire, with smoke visible in the building.
Upon arrival, fire crews observed a moderate amount of smoke inside the gas station; however, a thorough inspection deemed that there was no active fire in the attic or on the roof.
It was determined that lightning struck the air handling unit on the building’s roof, which contributed to the smoke.
No injuries were reported.
A coordinated and swift response from the Howards Grove and Haven Fire Department ensured the situation was quickly assessed.
