More details have emerged following the arrest of two individuals involved in the death of a 2-year-old in Green Bay.
21-year-old James D. Vanderleest and 48-year-old David A. Vanderleest were arrested last Friday (June 27th), and following a court appearance yesterday (June 30th) they have received criminal charges and had their bonds set.
James and David, who are father and son, were arrested in Florence County five days after Green Bay Police were called to a residence on a report of a 2-year-old boy who had suffered life-threatening injuries.
The child would later pass away as a result of his injuries after being transported to two separate treatment facilities.
According to records from the Brown County Jail, James has been charged with First-Degree Reckless Homicide, Resisting or Obstructing an Officer, and two counts of Felony Bail Jumping and has had his bond set at $2 million cash.
As for his father, David is facing charges of Harboring or Aiding an Escapee or Fugitive and Resisting or Obstructing an Officer and has a bond of $100,000 cash.
A GoFundMe has since been set up to cover funeral expenses for 2-year-old Leo, who passed away, which can be found online by visiting gofundme.com.
