
Elaine C. Meyer, age 86, a Manitowoc resident, passed away Thursday, June 26, 2025 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born September 5, 1938 in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Joseph and Elsie Ahl. Elaine attended Lincoln High School, graduating with the class of 1956. Following high school, she obtained a teaching degree from the Teachers College of Manitowoc. On December 31, 1960 Elaine married Albert Meyer at Holy Innocents Catholic Church, Manitowoc. She taught school for a short period then stayed at home to raise her seven kids. Elaine also taught CCD at Holy Innocents for decades. She was a creative and artistic woman who enjoyed many hobbies. Elaine made beautiful stained glass items that she decorated her home with and loved to give to family and friends. She also loved sewing, and was known for being the down pillow making queen. She made many pillows for family, friends, and charity that many people still enjoy today. Elaine also enjoyed gardening, religious activities, and doll collecting.
Elaine is survived by her loving husband of 64 years: Albert D. Meyer; her seven children: LeeAnn (Rick) Meyer, Francis Creek, JoAnn (Mark) Peroutka, Francis Creek, Jim (Rita) Meyer, Manitowoc, Bob Meyer, Arkansas, Jerry (LeThuy) Meyer, Kansas, Sharon (Greg) Nonnemacher, Manitowoc, and Joe (Julie) Meyer, Kossuth; 16 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren who she loved and cherished; one sister: Bernice (Jerome) Brandl, Pewaukee; and two sisters-in-law: Ruth Ahl and Pat Ahl, both of Manitowoc. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Joseph and Elsie Ahl; five brothers: Bob (Dolly) Ahl, Gerald (Nelda) Ahl, Norbert Ahl, Ray Ahl, and Jim (Jane) Ahl; four sisters: Dorothy (Harold) Hibbard, Alice (Tony) Reimer, MaryAnn Gallenberger, and Franny Miller; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Albert and Rose Meyer; and three sisters-in-law: Agnes Meyer, Sister Francita Meyer, and Rosemary (Ken) Stradal.
Cremation has occurred at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory, Manitowoc, and a memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo, 1121 N. 14th Street, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Doug LeCaptain. Following the Mass, a luncheon will be held at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center, 620 N. Water Street, Manitowoc. The family will greet relatives and friends from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo.
