The unemployment rates in the City of Manitowoc and in Manitowoc County as a whole were up slightly last month.
According to the Job Center of Wisconsin, the unemployment rate in the City of Manitowoc was at 3.3% in May, which equates to 560 people.
This is up from the 3.1% reported the previous month and the 2.8% reported in May of 2024.
Meanwhile, the County’s unemployment rate came in at 3%, which equates to 1,285 people.
That is one-tenth of a percentage point higher than in April, and four-tenths of a percentage point up from May of last year.
These rates are very similar to what was reported throughout the state, as 104,034of Wisconsinites, or 3.3% of the state, were reported as unemployed in May.
This is unchanged from April, but up from the $2.9% unemployment rate reported in May of 2024.
