Lakeland University is planning to honor some of its former students.
The university has announced that five individuals will receive awards during its Homecoming celebration on October 18th and 19th.
Lakeland will be holding a brunch reception on campus beginning at 9:45 a.m. on the 18th where these award winners and other alumni.
The Service to the University Award will be going to Lawrence Balleine, a 1971 grad. Debra Gander, DDS, a member of the class of 1977, will receive the Professional Achievement Award.
Donna Wendlandt, who graduated in 1972, will receive the Service to Community Award. Other recipients include Robert Melzer, who has been selected as the Honorary Alumni Award winner, while the J. Garland Schilcutt Award is being presented posthumously to the late Ron Hass.
Others to be honored during the Homecoming festivities will be ones entering the Lakeland University Emeritus Club, those who graduated from the university or Mission House at least half a century ago.
