A GoFundMe has been set up for the man who died in a Manitowoc County silo collapse.
The family has confirmed that Leobardo Misael Valdez Magaña died after a silo at a farm fell on him in the 11000 block of County Highway F on Tuesday.
The Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office reports that the silo was being dismantled when it fell in an unintended direction, and struck a nearby building.
Leobardo, known by many as “Mixa” was described as a “very hardworking man who came to the United States at the age of 16 with the hope of a better future for his parents.”
Money raised will go towards the funeral expenses and transporting his body back to Mexico, where “his family awaits with broken hearts to say their final goodbye.”
Zonia Valdez, who is organizing the GoFundMe, stated, “Any help, no matter how small, will be a blessing in this difficult time. On behalf of the entire family, we deeply thank you for your support and your prayers.”
