A Menasha man will stand trial for his role in a 2022 overdose death.
Court records show that 31-year-old Julius Elmer appeared in court earlier this month as he faced one charge of First-Degree Reckless Homicide by Delivering Drugs.
At Elmer’s arraignment on June 16th, he entered a not guilty plea to the lone charge he faces.
Following his plea, Judge Yadira Rein scheduled pre-trial conferences for August 18th and September 2nd.
The 31-year-old’s five-day, 12-person trial will then run from September 15th through the 19th.
Elmer’s charges stem from an incident in August of 2022, where the Appleton Police Department was called to the 500 block of East Winnebago Street to investigate the death of a 42-year-old Appleton resident.
The investigation that followed deemed the man’s death an overdose and named Elmer as a suspect.
He was arrested earlier this year on February 27th, nearly two years after the investigation began.
He has been held at the Outagamie County Jail on a $150,000 cash bond since his arrest.
