Authorities have released dash cam footage from a police pursuit in Fond du Lac County over the weekend.
The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office received numerous calls at approximately 11:00 a.m. on Saturday (June 21st) reporting a vehicle driving recklessly and at a high rate of speed on Highway 23 in the Village of Rosendale.
A trooper with the Wisconsin State Patrol witnessed the driver, 49-year-old Steven Juhas of Ripon, traveling on 23 at speeds over 90 MPH.
He was next seen by a deputy entering the City of Fond du Lac near Rolling Meadows Drive going 102 MPH in a posted 35 MPH zone.
The deputy activated his lights and went after Juhas; however, he continued to flee.
As the video depicts, the 49-year-old continued on Interstate 41 at excessive speeds while driving recklessly and weaving in and out of traffic, nearly colliding with civilian vehicles on numerous occasions.
The deputy was eventually able to get close enough to the fleeing vehicle to make contact in an effort to disable the vehicle.
Juhas’ vehicle would come to a stop in the ditch, bringing an end to the chase that stretched approximately five miles.
Juhas was arrested and has since made his initial appearance in court, where he was charged with First-Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, Fleeing or Eluding Causing Great Bodily Harm or Property Damage, and Resisting or Obstructing an Officer.
His bond has been set at $50,000 cash, and he is set for a preliminary hearing on August 1st.
