Those in the agricultural industry will be able to tag their cattle free of cost in Wisconsin.
The United States Department of Agriculture is providing free 840 radio frequency identification (RFID) tags to producers, veterinarians, dealers, and markets.
Tags are expected to be available until September 30th or while supplies last. RFID tags can be ordered in multiples of 1,000 with a cap at 5,000 due to a limited supply.
For producers, tags are for use with only their animals and should not be shared, sold, or used at other farms.
Orange tags will be available to veterinarians, while white tags are being offered to producers, dealers, and markets. Producers can make tag orders online, free of charge, by visiting wi.accessgov.com/datcp, and veterinarians can do so by visiting datcpservices.wisconsin.gov.
