Another step has been taken to make upgrades at Sheboygan’s Evergreen Park.
The City’s Public Works Committee met this week and discussed the new, revised concept plan proposal put forward by Sheboygan County Cycling (SCC).
At that meeting, the committee unanimously approved the concept plan and has sent it to the Common Council with a recommendation to give the project full approval.
This revised concept plan was created by SCC after holding multiple info sessions to better understand what portions the public enjoyed and disapproved of the most.
Major exclusions from the new proposal included the 18,000 square foot pump track and an advanced skills zone on the park’s south edge, two items that many, including the Save Evergreen Park group, stood in strong opposition to.
The next step is for the concept plan to receive full approval from the Sheboygan Common Council, which SCC believes will be on the agenda for the July 7th meeting; however, that is still uncertain at this time.
If approved by the council, SCC will begin to hire professionals to create design documents for the trails.
