
Manitowoc’s 19u American Legion squad fell in a low-scoring affair against Bay Port yesterday (June 25th).
Manitowoc struggled at the plate while in this road matchup and would be shut out 3-0.
Despite reaching base five times via walks, Manitowoc would only be able to get three hits in the game due to a strong performance on the mound by Bay Port’s Jake Olson, who went six and a third innings with 8 strikeouts.
Seth Gibeault was the bright spot on offense as he would get 2 of Manitowoc’s 3 hits while Brayden Steinbecker would add the third.
Pitcher Aaron Stephany got the loss after pitching four innings, giving up all 3 runs scored in the ball game.
Manitowoc’s 17u team would fare better as they beat Kewaunee County on the road 7-4.
Leadoff man McCormick Zutz shined for the 17u squad, picking up 3 hits, 1 run, 1 RBI, and on base on balls.
The 17u team now sits at 6-2 with the win and will be back in action tomorrow for a doubleheader in Little Chute.
As for Manitowoc’s 19u club, their loss drops their record to 7-3 with their next game also coming on Friday in a tournament in Marinette.
