
One person was hospitalized, and another was arrested after a violent axe attack in Fond du Lac.
The Fond du Lac Police Department was called to the 300 block of East Merrill Avenue on Sunday (June 22nd) just after 2:30 p.m. by a woman claiming she was attacked with an axe.
The caller further explained that she was actively bleeding, and her attacker had fled the scene.
Upon arrival, officers and EMS teams located a 38-year-old female who had suffered multiple severe lacerations to her head, limbs, and back.
Life-saving measures were immediately rendered before the victim was transported to a local hospital.
She was then flown to Theda Medical Center in Neenah to undergo extensive surgeries.
An intensive investigation would follow as authorities worked to locate the assailant, a 34-year-old male.
Fond du Lac police and the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office, Wisconsin State Patrol, Germantown Police Department, and Fond du Lac County Communications Center tracked the suspect’s vehicle to Germantown.
Following a brief pursuit, the 34-year-old was taken into custody and transported to a hospital for medical evaluation.
Currently, the axe attack remains under investigation, and charges are forthcoming following evidence review and consultation with the District Attorney’s Office.
As of last word, the victim has made it through surgery and has been listed in stable condition.
