A loose horse was fatally struck by a car early yesterday morning near the intersection of State Highway 26 and County Highway A in Dodge County.
The driver, Abimael Torres Avendano of Fort Atkinson, was taken into custody for operating while intoxicated and driving without a valid license.
The horse, owned by Laura St John, was on the roadway at the time of the accident.
St John is expected to be cited for allowing the animal to roam freely.
