As the US Women’s Disc Golf Championship has concluded, one of the event’s highlights was the quality fan experience.
This tournament not only brought in competitors from around the globe but also spectators. This included friends and family members of golfers and those there just to enjoy the premier talent on hand.
That included Jacob Phillips from Green Bay, a fellow disc golfer who was happy the tournament was held so close to home.
He told us, “I’m so grateful to all the women for coming here and having their tournament here. I want to be here to show them that we care in Green Bay and the greater community. We care, we’re going to show up.”
Phillips also mentioned that we Wisconsinites are blessed, especially in Northeastern Wisconsin, with such high-quality courses that can bring in major tournaments.
Two other fans, Dave Stadler and his sister Nancy.
Dave and Nancy are Wisconsin natives, but Dave made the trip up from Kansas City, where he currently resides.
They, too, are just fans not supporting any golfer in particular, but rather just the sport itself.
Dave told us, “I catch three or four different tournaments over the year.”
While Nancy said, “I just follow my brother!”
Both Nancy and Dave shared Phillips’ sentiment that it’s great to see such a big tournament come to the northeastern Wisconsin area.
Finnish golfer Eveliina Salonen is this year’s champ in the pro division.
She earned top marks after outlasting all her competitors and shot an impressive 17 under par.
