A driver from Appleton has been cited after a hit and run last week.
An officer with the Appleton Police Department was called to the intersection of West Brewster Street and North Erb Street on reports of a car accident.
Once on the scene, the officer made contact with one of the drivers who was injured; however, the other vehicle involved drove off prior to his arrival.
When conducting initial investigations, the officer located a license plate in the road that belonged to the other vehicle involved.
After following up with the vehicle’s owner, the owner told authorities that it was not them behind the wheel during the incident, but was able to provide information on where to find the person who was.
Once arriving at the next address, the officer located the suspect vehicle, which had experienced heavy damage during the collision.
The driver would admit to being behind the wheel during the accident and that they had a revoked driver’s license.
The driver was then cited for hit and run causing injury, failure to yield resulting in bodily injury, operating while revoked, and failure to install an ignition interlock device.
