The Sheboygan Police Department is looking to keep residents safe ahead of one of the biggest holidays of the year.
As many in Sheboygan celebrate the 4th of July on one of the City’s many beaches, the police department is offering safety warnings to those spending Independence Day on the lakefront.
Alcohol consumption or possession is strictly prohibited on any beach in Sheboygan, but it may be both possessed and consumed in the vendor area of Deland Park as well as the grass area of King Park.
However, no glass containers are allowed on any beach or public space throughout Sheboygan.
Those hoping to watch fireworks from a boat are prohibited from beach areas as well.
Those on the beach are permitted to have bonfires from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., but they are to be no larger than 36 inches in diameter and 18 inches high.
If you will be having a bonfire, Sheboygan PD notes to not bury fires but to extinguish them with water or leave them to burn out safely.
These rules apply all summer long, not just during the 4th of July holiday, and will keep Sheboyganites safe while enjoying the lakefront.
