An area state senator is calling for the Pro Football Hall of Fame to induct a not-so-well-known Packer’s strategist.
In a Senate Joint Resolution, State Senator Andre Jacque of New Franken states that without Jack Vainisi, the Lombardi Era in Green Bay would not have occurred, and “Titletown” would not be on the map.
Vainisi scouted and drafted 12 future Football Hall of Famers, including Bart Starr, Ray Nitschke, Forest Gregg, Paul Hornung, and Willie Davies.
He also urged the Packers to go after an Assistant Coach for the New York Giants named Vince Lombardi.
The scout would not get to live to see the glory days of the franchise he helped build.
He died from a rheumatic heart condition at the age of 33.
Jacque says, “If not for Jack Vainisi, there may not be a Green Bay Packers team in the NFL today. He belongs in the room with all the other immortals who have left an indelible imprint on the game of professional football.”
The resolution has been sent to the Wisconsin Senate floor but has not been voted on.
