The City of Sheboygan is making positive progress in replacing lead service lines.
Sheboygan Water Utility (SWU) has announced that the North 6th Street replacement project, just south of North Avenue, is nearing completion.
This project has seen crews remove and replace more than 20 lead service lines in the area.
At this point, the remaining work to be done on 6th Street includes final restorations, landscaping, and repairs, which is expected to be completed in the coming weeks.
The North 7th Street project is also progressing well, as SWU has installed nearly 600 feet of new water mains, nearly half of the 1,250 feet planned.
Crews will get back to work on 7th Street on Monday (June 23rd), and once all replacements are completed, a contractor will begin removing the lead lines in place.
While lead service line replacement work is completed, Sheboygan residents may experience temporary water service interruptions.
However, all interruptions are planned, and affected residents will be notified ahead of time.
