A cat died during a house fire in Fond du Lac County.
WBAY reports that the Ripon Fire District and Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office were called to Skyline Circle in the Town of Ripon yesterday after 10:20 a.m. on a report of black smoke coming from inside a residence.
Emergency crews found the source of the smoke in a woodshop in the basement and stopped the fire from spreading to the rest of the home.
The cause is believed to be a tool that was plugged in.
The homeowners weren’t home at the time, but unfortunately, a cat inside passed away due to smoke inhalation.
Other pets were safely removed from the home.
The home did suffer significant smoke and soot damage and has been deemed uninhabitable.
The fire does not seem to be suspicious in nature and remains under investigation.
