A Sheboygan man has been sentenced after a fatal stabbing last year.
Court documents show that 34-year-old Zachary K. Little appeared in court on Monday (June 16th) for a plea and sentencing hearing as he was charged with First-Degree Intentional Homicide in the death of his roommate.
At Monday’s hearing, Little was found not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect.
After family members of the victim made statements, Judge Rebecca Persick ordered the 34-year-old to be committed to a secure mental health facility for life.
In July of last year, the Sheboygan Police Department was called to the 1700 block of South 25th Street to investigate after reports of a stabbing.
Upon their arrival, officers discovered Little’s roommate, who was stabbed numerous times.
Despite being stabbed 16 times, the victim was able to identify Little as his attacker before ultimately succumbing to his injuries.
Police then used a vehicle-mounted battering ram to open the front door of the apartment where the two individuals resided.
Little would surrender not long after and be placed in custody.
