It was a back and forth battle on Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium for the Division 3 State Baseball Championship.
In the end, the powerhouse Kenosha St. Joseph’s Lancers were too much for Kewaunee as they fell 3-2.
It was a scoreless matchup through three innings before the Storm struck first. Diesel Bosdeck reached base on a fielding error, stole second, reached third on a sac fly, and finally scored on a passed ball.
The Lancers would strike back in the bottom half of the inning, but undeterred, the Storm again brought home a run in the 5th.
Toby Kunkel blasted a first pitch double, moved to 3rd on a sac bunt, and scored on a sac fly to right field by Connor Kilgore.
It looked as though it was going to be tied entering the 7th inning, but Waylon Delain gave up three straight singles, allowing the Lancers to take the lead.
Kewaunee couldn’t do anything against Lancer closer and D-1 prospect Dominic Santarelli, who set the Storm down in order.
The Storm ended the season with an 18-6 record and a Packerland Conference Championship, where they went 8-0.
