The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is looking to raise awareness about invasive species.
The DNR’s 2nd annual Invasive Species Awareness Weekend will be held on Saturday (June 21st) and Sunday (June 22nd) with events across the state to engage and educate Wisconsinites.
Our state is now home to many invasive species of animals, plants, and insects that threaten natural habitats.
The most local event taking place this weekend will be Oust the Invasives at Kohler-Andrae State Park in Sheboygan from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
These events will have activities for participants of all ages and aim to teach those in attendance skills and techniques to slow the spread of invasives and how to apply these methods on their own properties.
Not only can invasives adversely affect natural habitats, but they can also do harm to the economy, humans, and pets.
